What is IHFL?
The Inter House Football League (I.H.F.L.) at D.W.P.S. Hooghly is an eagerly anticipated annual event that brings together the spirited competition and camaraderie of four distinguished houses: House Teresa, House Chanakya, House Newton, and House Kalam. This exciting football league unfolds in two thrilling legs, showcasing the talent and teamwork of the school’s passionate football enthusiasts. From June to July, the D.W.P.S. Hooghly football ground serves as the vibrant arena for these exhilarating matches.
The pinnacle of the league arrives with the grand final game held in the first week of August. This spectacular event draws an esteemed audience, including top-tier management, proud guardians, and special guests from outside the school. Prior to the final match, a captivating ceremony sets the stage, featuring captivating performances in music, dance, and yoga by the talented students. The proceedings are officially initiated by the Sports Captain, adding an air of anticipation and excitement.
For the victors, the ultimate prize is the prestigious I.H.F.L. Trophy, a symbol of their exceptional achievement. Additionally, individual excellence is celebrated with awards such as Player of the League, Best Goalkeeper, Man of the Final, and Top Scorer, recognizing outstanding contributions to the league. The celebration extends to all participants, as the runner-up team members are honoured with silver medals, while the triumphant champions are adorned with coveted gold medals.
In a thrilling conclusion to the 2023 I.H.F.L. season, House Kalam emerged as the triumphant winners, clinching the I.H.F.L. Trophy by defeating the defending champions, House Newton. This victory is a testament to their skill, teamwork, and determination, creating lasting memories for both players and fans alike. The Inter House Football League at D.W.P.S. Hooghly continues to be a cherished tradition, fostering a love for the sport and instilling values of sportsmanship and competitive spirit in all who participate.
Future Plans of Medisky Group Concerning Football
Medisky Group is committed to transforming football development in Dankuni and beyond. We aim to nurture young athletes through grassroots programs, structured training, and mentorship by hosting inter-house, inter-club, and inter-school grand competitions to showcase the skills of hidden talents and instil values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and determination.
We also offer scholarships to exceptional talents from families who may need more means to afford a prestigious education. In 2025, we plan to launch the ‘Medisky Football Academy’, a state-of-the-art institution with top-tier facilities and world-class coaching. We plan to spread our initiatives throughout West Bengal, inviting local companies and influential individuals to join us and make it a collaborative effort for development. We most certainly acknowledge the support of local communities and the trust we have received, calling for continued partnership to create a legacy of sporting excellence and many other developments and initiatives to be launched in the years to come.
